Some of the most meaningful work happens in partnership. Learning with Lado loves teaming up with schools, museums, and community organizations to bring art education that is culturally responsive and inquiry-driven to the people of New York, meeting learners where they are, in the places they already gather.
Workshops
A single session, designed to give any group a real creative experience in just a couple of hours. No prior art experience is required, and everyone leaves with something they made and a genuine sense of having learned to see a little differently. Every workshop is built around close looking and the elements of art, then shaped to the group in front of me, whether that is a team of coworkers, a room of museum visitors, a classroom, or friends gathered to celebrate.
I have led workshops at every scale, from intimate small-group sessions to a 200-person painting workshop for a talent agency offsite, alongside museum-based observational drawing and community workshops rooted in the same foundations I teach in every class.
Multi-Session Residencies
An embedded artist-in-residence engagement, where I work with the same group of students over time, building real skill, confidence, and a body of work that culminates in something to be proud of. Residencies range from short arcs to semester-long projects, and they are designed around your community, your themes, and your goals, not a one-size curriculum.
My current residency with the Basquiat Project takes a class of fifth graders through the life and work of Jean-Michel Basquiat toward large-scale paintings of their own, culminating in a student showcase at the Brooklyn Museum in 2026. That is the kind of arc I love to build: rigorous, personal, and ending in real work on real walls.
Co-Developed Programming
A true creative partnership, where we design something together from the ground up, braiding studio practice, art history, and community engagement into programming that serves your mission. This is for organizations that want more than a guest artist, and are looking for a collaborator who can help shape the vision itself.
My ongoing work with Create Humanity is one example, where studio sessions support fundraising and humanitarian initiatives around the world, turning art-making into a force for connection and change.
Curriculum & Consultation
Behind every strong program is strong planning. I work alongside educators, museum education staff, and program leaders to design and refine visual art curriculum and program structure, drawing on years of classroom teaching, standards-aligned curriculum design, and mentoring other teachers as a clinical instructor at Hunter College.
I am especially experienced in culturally responsive curriculum design, gallery-integrated teaching, and studio-based pedagogy for K–12 settings, and I bring the same rigor to building a program as I do to teaching one.
